We are very different from other sites.  Here are just a few features that you are unlikely to find on other dating sites:
- Our members are all single parents or family-minded singles who are happy to meet someone who has a ready-made family.  This includes parents whose children do not live with them, or have grown-up and flown the nest.  It also includes people who don't have children (but are happy to meet someone who has), or may want children of their own in  the future.
 
- Everyone you see on our database is an active member & currently seeking a partner - profiles of inactive members are hidden from view.  Most dating sites carry hundreds of profiles of members that have long since lost interest in order to "pad out" their site.  We think this is very unfair on you if you choose to contact them.
- Try before you buy - send unlimited Mini-Messages to to other members to see who's interested in you, and view the profiles of members who contact you.
- You can speak to members on the phone  via our CallSafe phone re-direction service which conceals members' real numbers, or leave a message for them on their Voicemail number (only available to full members).  Not offered on any other online dating service. 
- No-Time-Limits membership upgrade available.  Stay with us for as long as it takes you to meet your ideal partner - without paying another penny!  Rarely offered on other dating sites!

One of the most important things is to include a photo!  Although this is entirely optional, research has shown that you will get far more contacts if your profile includes a photo.  You can upload an image stored on your computer, or send a print to our office.  Photos should be recent, fairly close-up, just of you (no group pictures or photos including children), fully-clothed (no underwear/swimwear please), and preferably smiling!
 
When writing your profile - be honest about yourself.  You want to attract someone who is right for you (and you for them).  Secondly, be positive about yourself.  Try and think of all the good things you have to offer (there will be plenty).  We guide you throughout the application - but there are 3 areas where we would like you tell us more in your own words:
 
About Yourself:  Use this section to tell other members about your personality e.g. things that make you laugh, what is important to you in life etc.  A personal statement in your own words says so much more than just ticking boxes.  But don't include interests and hobbies - that comes next.
 
Interests & Hobbies:  Include anything in this section that you enjoy doing - even things as simple as the TV programmes you like to watch, or activities you'd like to do in the company of someone special.
 
Your Ideal Partner:  Be reasonably specific, but not over-demanding.  Don't try to describe your ideal partner down to the very smallest detail.  It may put off other members (who may be quite suitable) from contacting you if they don't match up to a long list of requirements.

Select the package you wish to purchase, make your credit or debit card payment, and get started!  Your upgrade will be instant.
 
If you don't want to pay by card online, you can enter your card details* into our Offline order area (which are securely encrypted and transferred) and we will process them through the terminal in our office, or phone us on 0871 572 0477 (9am - 7pm Mon - Fri) with your card details.
*  NB. We do not keep records of card details after they have been processed.

There are 3 different levels of membership:
- 3 months (90 days) costs just £ 16.95
- 6 months (180 days) costs just £ 29.95
- No-Time-Limit* use of the site costs just £ 49.95 - recommended!
* No-Time-Limit membership allows you full use of the site for as long as you wish.  You can also also put your membership on "hold"** for up to 6 months at a time - as many times as you like - to see how a new relationship works out without losing your membership (only available to No-Time-Limit members).  We highly recommend this option - you can stay with us until you are absolutely sure that you have met your ideal partner without paying another penny!
**  If you haven't logged-in for 6 consecutive months (180 days), or any period on "hold" exceeds 6 months (180 days), your membership automatically ends.  However, if you forget to log-in, e-mail reminders are always sent.

| Certainly not!!  There are many sites that do this.  We are not one of them.  You will receive a reminder by e-mail when your current membership is due to expire.  It is then up to you if you wish to renew.

| There are many dating sites on the internet that are totally free - why aren't you one of them? |

|
Take a close look at the sites that are totally "free", and you will find that they are littered with advertising directing you to other sites, which are selling products or services often totally unconnected to dating.  Every time you click through - they earn commission!  The "dating" part is the front they use to draw you to the site.  The owners of these sites have no interest or expertise in the field of dating, and don't monitor the profiles listed.  It's basically a "free for all".  You will have no guarantee that they are genuine, single, available or, in the worst-case scenario, even exist.  You could waste a lot of time, or suffer a lot of heartache before you realise that the old saying is true - "you only get what you pay for".
 
There are some things on our site you can do for free - such as upload a free profile & photo  to "test the water" before you pay to join - but ALL profiles/photos are very carefully vetted before they appear on the site - and we reject those that we feel are unsuitable!  You can also send as many Mini-Messages as you like to people who interest you to see if you get a response.  For full access to the site, we charge a very reasonable amount to sustain a highly professional service totally dedicated to single parent dating.  We do not try to inundate you with products or services you are not the least bit interested in.
 
Whilst our fees are extremely reasonable, they also serve to ensure that only people who are genuinely interested in making new relationships will join.

| Yes you can!  You can join our paper-based membership for which there is a one-off fee.  Click Here to request a free information pack to be posted to your home, or phone 0871 572 0477  (24hrs).  You can then complete the application form and return it to us with your payment, or join over the telephone (credit/debit card payments only - 9am-7pm Monday-Friday).  You will then be sent a printed list of profiles of all active members in your preferred age range and area, your own profile will visible on our database to registered members, and also sent (in printed form) to future off-line members. |

| Of course you can!  You don't need to have children to join - as long as you are happy to meet people who have!  You might even want children of your own in the future! 
 
If you have children that live elsewhere but see them  regularly, it will be important to you that you meet someone who understands and accepts that.  If you have grown-up children, most members in your age group will have too (you're still a Mum/Dad no matter how old your kids are)!  Family life is important to all our members!

| 30 or 40 years ago you might have been right.  Those were the days when people married at an early age, and divorce was rare.  The only people who joined Marriage Bureaux (as they were called then) tended to be those who were "left on the shelf".  That situation has changed dramatically over the last 25 years.  The UK now has the highest divorce rate in Europe, and tens of thousands of people are finding themselves unexpectedly on their own.  Far from being social misfits, the type of person who join dating sites are ordinary, sociable people who just happen to be single at this point in time.

| On each paper-based member's profile, there will be a link for you to click on to access their contact details (only available to Upgraded members).  This information will be e-mailed to you immediately.  Contact will be by telephone (via CallSafe re-direction - see What is CallSafe below)

| What is CallSafe/Voicemail? |
|   |
| CallSafe is a phone re-direction service which conceals your existing home and/or mobile number by using an alternative number which we supply absolutely free of charge.  CallSafe is only available to upgraded members.
 
When your CallSafe number is dialled, it re-directs the call to your landline, mobile, or both.  If you choose both, the call will re-direct to both phones, and first one you pick up will receive the call.  You need never miss a call wherever you are.
 
You can also choose whether or not to have your CallSafe number visible to other upgraded members on the site.  If you don't want it to be visible, you can switch it off.
 
CallSafe will not affect the normal operation of your landline or mobile in any way, and it will cost you nothing to receive calls.
 
Voicemail  - we provide you with a number free of charge  which, when dialled, allows the caller to leave a message for you.  You can access  messages via your  account on the site, and play them back on your  computer speakers. 
 
Having a CallSafe or Voicemail number will allow members who do not have internet access to get in touch with you.  Your CallSafe  or Voicemail  number will be released to paper-based members when your printed profile is sent to them.

| I am an existing paper-based member - how do I activate my online membership? |

- Firstly, your paper-based membership with KNO must still be in date.  If you're not sure - email  us at  help@kno.org.uk  with your name and address and membership number (if known).  If you are out of date, you will have to register as a new member (see How do I join? above).
- If your paper-based membership is valid,  Click here to be taken to the Registration page.
- Click on the "Activate your Account" box at the bottom right of this page.  You will only need to do this once.
- Enter your membership number* and postcode, and click on "Next".
- Enter an email address, or check the address is correct if there is already one in the box.  Please make sure your email address is valid, active & correctly typed.
- You then need to create a Password.  Please make a note of this, as it will be your Password to log-on to the system.
- This will take you back to the log-in page.  You can now log-in as a Member (on the left-hand side of the screen) using the same email address, and the Password you've just created.  This will take you to your Personal Home Page.
- Whenever you return to the site, you can use the Log In box on the Home Page at www.kno.org.uk

Most certainly!  We do everything possible to ensure that the people who join us are genuine, and are suitable for the type of service we provide.  We can, and do, reject applications from people whom we feel are unsuitable for the type of service we provide.
 
All members' names and addresses are verified at the time of upgrading.  This applies to internet joiners as well as paper-based members.
 
Your e-mail address, surname, postal address or real telephone numbers are never revealed to other members. Please see Privacy and Safety  for further information, and also Dating Tips for dating safety.

You can speak to a real person on the phone from 9am - 7pm Monday - Friday (with no irritating queuing).  If we are busy -  please leave your name and phone number and we will get back to you as soon as we can.  You can also e-mail or write to our office (a proper address - not a PO Box No), or leave messages on our telephone answering service outside of office hours.  We will respond a.s.a.p. and be delighted to help you.
 
We know of no other online dating sites that offer any kind of telephone assistance.

| How can I make sure that I receive emails from KNO telling me that I have a new message in my InBox? |

Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) block messages from senders whose email addresses are not in the recipient's Address Book or on their Safe Senders List.  To ensure your KNO messages reach you, please add admin@kno.org.uk and marketing@kno.org.uk to your  Address Book or Safe Senders List.  Instructions on how to do this for the most commonly used ISPs are below:
Hotmail  / MSN mail
- Once signed in, click "Options" in the top right of your screen.
- On the left-hand side of the page, click "Safe and blocked senders" which is under the "Junk email" section.
- Click on "Safe senders".
- Add admin@kno.org.uk  and marketing@kno.org.uk, and click "Add to list".
GMail
- From your Gmail inbox, open the KNO email you have received.
- Click on the arrow next to the reply button on the top right hand corner of the email.
- From the drop-down menu, click on "Add sender to contacts".
Yahoo Mail
- Click on "Contacts" in the menu on the left of the page.
- Click "Add Contacts"
- Add name (Kids No Object) and email addresses (admin@kno.org.uk  and marketing@kno.org.uk).
